Health & Safety Review

Posted on

A Government review recommends controls on no win no fee lawyers, the simplification of risk assessments for businesses and the accreditation of health and safety consultants. They also advise of the reduction of red tape for school trips, and to apply extra scrutiny of councils which ban events on health and safety grounds.

The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health said “We think this review could see a turning point for health and safety by turning the focus away from daft decisions and back into saving people’s lives in hazardous areas of work”.

We hope that as a result of these recommendations we will see a clampdown on “absurd” applications of legislation and that health and safety is re-aligned to ensure that it is practical and sensible for employers. We will keep all of our clients updated on developments in this crucial area.
